Home for the aged
in Kikinda at the moment can put up 61 inmates. Their number,
of course, is never the same but it is always full up.
Its inmates are mostly from the teritory of this community.
They are from 70-80 years old. There are almost twice more
female inmates than male ones. The majority of them has elementary
education and are supported persons. However, some of them
can pay their stay in the centre, in full or partially.
Inmates of the new home finance themselves, inmates of the
old centre are financed by budget.
A great many inmates had been living alone before they came
to the centre (wodowers, widows, divorced persons)

a visit
|
A lot of inmates are chronic patients
or they are invalids so they depend on help of other people.
The most adequte solution for them are three -bedded rooms,
or even rooms where there are more than three beds, since these
persons need constant care.
|
| Those inmates who do not depend on help of the staff are put up in double bedded rooms or
one-room apartments which are very comfortable and they have all necessary conditions for
normal life.

the inmates of the centre

| Married couples also live in this
centre. This is proof that old age has other, nicer side, too.
The old people don't always feel lonely, but they also feel
happy living together with other people. |

| The needs of the Center
are connected with capacity which has to be enlarged , this
would enable better treatment of its inmates ... [further] |
